Shibarium Bridge Enhancements Decrease BONE Transfer Time from 7 Days to 45 Minutes

Shibarium, Shiba Inu’s layer-2 (L2) scaling solution, has just made improvements to its bridge to Ethereum, drastically reducing the time it takes to transfer BONE tokens between the networks, according to the Shiba Inu development team.

Previously, users had to wait 7 days for their BONE tokens to be transferred from Shibarium to Ethereum. The week-long lock-in period was designed to keep users engaged on Shibarium for longer periods of time in order to support token value.

However, in a move to enhance user experience and efficiency while ensuring network stability, Shibarium has now reduced the bridge time from 7 days to approximately 45 minutes. This change aims to provide a more seamless process that both the community and the network can benefit from.

The new system operates on a checkpoint mechanism for BONE token exits, ensuring transactions are processed much faster. This improvement not only benefits BONE holders, who can now manage their assets with enhanced speed levels, but also empowers project builders to develop more intricate and time-sensitive applications on the layer-2 chain.

It is important to note that the upgrade will take effect only for withdrawals done from this point forward. Any transfer done before the implementation of the upgrade will still be completed after 7 days from the time the transfer is initiated. 

The bridge enhancement reflects Shibarium’s commitment to embracing technological advancements and streamlining operations, which allows the Shib community and others looking to explore the Shib ecosystem to participate more efficiently in governance and other collaborative initiatives through unified efforts.
