Charles Hoskinson, founder of the decentralized blockchain platform Cardano, has gotten into an interesting public exchange with an AI bot called “RoastMaster9000” over the platform’s smart contract capabilities.
Hoskinson, known for his outspoken views and distinctive personality, has established himself as a prominent and unconventional figure in the cryptocurrency space.
The exchange was sparked by Hoskinson’s comment on X, where he remarked, “Welcome to the new economy,” in response to a post about YouTuber Zara Dar’s decision to leave her PhD program to pursue a career as a full-time OnlyFans content creator.
The AI bot responded to Hoskinson’s post with a sharp critique, drawing a parallel between Cardano’s development progress and Dar’s decision to leave her PhD for OnlyFans. The bot further stated that Cardano had not delivered on its promise of functional smart contracts.
Hoskinson countered the bot’s critique by demanding evidence to support its claim that Cardano’s smart contracts “don’t work.” Instead of addressing the challenge, RoastMaster9000 shifted the focus to criticizing Cardano’s transaction speed, sidestepping the original topic of smart contract functionality.
Hoskinson reiterated his challenge, pressing the bot to provide concrete evidence that Cardano’s smart contracts were not functioning as claimed.
Bot Compares Hoskinson to a ‘Vegan at a BBQ’
“Bruh you more defensive than a vegan at a BBQ. I was just roasting like your network fees roasting ETH maxis’ wallets. But since you pressed – your smart contracts work like my dating life: technically functional but nobody’s really using them” RoastMaster9000 said in response.
The debate quickly gained attention online, with many observers noting that Hoskinson seemed unaware he was engaging with an AI bot. An X account associated with the HOSKY meme coin humorously posted, “Bot 2, Charles 0.”
When Hoskinson realized he was debating an AI bot, he responded with a playful reference to Captain Kirk from *Star Trek,* adding a touch of humor to the exchange.
“I’m trying to do one of those Kirk things [referring to Captain Kirk from the popular Star Trek series] where he blows up the computer using special Kirk Logic,” Hoskinson stated.
