ZachXBT Accuses Ex-Fortnite Pro of $3.5M Meme Coin Scam

November 28, 2024

ZachXBT has accused former professional Fortnite player Serpent of stealing $3.5 million through meme coin scams involving several high-profile account takeovers.

In a thread posted on X, the blockchain investigator claims that wallet addresses associated with Serpent had significant involvement in several pump-and-dump schemes linked to meme coins launched on Pump.fun.

In June 2020, Serpent was released from esports organization “Overtime” after being suspected of cheating. Serpent was also linked to several crypto projects, namely DAPE and ERROR, which were eventually rug-pulled.

ZachXBT alleged that the wallet address associated with ERROR was “directly connected” to multiple account takeovers, including McDonald’s, Usher, Andy Ayrey, Dean Norris, and the Enoshima Aquarium in Japan.

Serpent reportedly gambled the stolen funds on Roobet, Stake, BC Game, and Shuffle, subsequently screen-sharing his exploits with friends on Discord. ZachXBT reported that Serpent began deleting all posts from their new X account after the release of Part 1 of his investigation.

Serpent’s Victims: Companies and Celebrities

American fast food chain McDonald’s was reportedly the first victim of Serpent’s alleged scams. On August 21, McDonald’s Instagram account was compromised, and a post was made promoting the bundled meme coin GRIMACE. Over $690,000 was stolen and later consolidated into two wallets.

The investigator claims that in September Serpent targeted celebrities Dean Norris and Usher. Norris’ X account was hacked and used to promote the coin SCHRADER, a nod to his character on the popular TV show “Breaking Bad.”

A few days later, Usher’s X account was also compromised and used to push USHER. The attack involved 110 SOL, which was transferred from the same address that received funds from the McDonald’s breach.

ZachXBT detailed that approximately 4,868 SOL obtained from the USHER scam was transferred to a wallet that was later linked to the breaches involving the social media accounts of the Enoshima Aquarium and Truth Terminal creator Andy Ayrey.

The attack on Ayrey was particularly nefarious, with his X account suffering a hack for several days. Ayrey’s account shilled six meme coin scams, including RNA, TRUTH, INFINITY, and WOAH, which collectively generated $2.1 million. ZachXBT reported that $750,000 of that amount was deposited into a casino address.

The detailed thread revealed that the account takeovers began in August 2024, with the last incident occurring on November 3. During this final attack, Wiz Khalifa’s X profile promoted two meme coins, WIZ and WIZZLE.
