Three Generations of Jeans Makers, One Leap into Crypto: Orod Jeans & Shiba Inu

Orod Jeans, a 70-year-old family business, stands at this intersection of tradition and innovation, in the heart of Tehran where the scent of spices and the clatter of commerce mingle with the hum of a digital revolution. Across three generations, the family has stitched together a legacy of quality craftsmanship and competitive pricing.

Now, they’re taking a bold leap into the future, embracing Shiba Inu and its governance token, Bone, as forms of payment. More than just a business decision, this strategic move is a family’s testament to the transformative power of cryptocurrency.

The story began in the post-World War II era with Orod’s grandfather, a visionary entrepreneur who laid the foundation for Orod Jeans. He instilled in his son, and later his grandson, the values of hard work, quality, and customer loyalty.

“The Plasco building was built in 1962… an iconic landmark… representing the drive for modernization,” Mrs. Rosa, Orod’s sister and business partner, recalled, explaining how her father acquired shops in the then-modern Plasco building. Tragedy struck in 2017 when the Plasco building collapsed, a devastating blow to the family business. Yet, amid the rubble, their resilience shone through. “Several factors… helped the business to carry on and flourish again,” Mrs. Rosa shared, citing their remaining retail stores, loyal customers, and competitive pricing.

In 2024, Orod Adlparvar, the grandson of Mr. Hossein Alizadeh, launched Orod Jeans as a modern rebranding of his family’s 70-year-old men’s clothing business. While the original company, Leekasro, continues to operate successfully, Orod Jeans, succesfully captured approximately 35% of Iran’s men’s clothing market.

Orod, the third-generation leader, saw an opportunity to merge his family’s legacy with the thriving world of cryptocurrency. “I became a holder of Shiba Inu and Bone about three years ago,” he explained during a conversation with The Shib Daily, “and I was one of the first to introduce it to the Iranian community.” Orod’s influence extends beyond his business; he’s a respected KOL in Iran’s crypto space.

Orod Jeans is positioned to expand the business’s reach into international markets, aiming to tap into global trends and consumer demand. With a focus on innovation and quality, Orod Jeans is embracing new technologies, including the acceptance of cryptocurrency payments like Shiba Inu, to enable faster transactions and appeal to a broader, tech-savvy audience.

His decision to accept Shiba Inu and Bone wasn’t solely based on personal interest. International sanctions have long complicated traditional banking in Iran, making cryptocurrency a practical solution. “Shiba Inu made international payments so much easier,” Orod noted. “We no longer faced the problems of the traditional banking system.”

The volatility of cryptocurrency prices presented a challenge, but Mrs. Rosa detailed the business’ strategy: “For day-to-day operations… we convert a portion… into fiat currency… to mitigate potential risks… However… we retain a percentage… including Shiba Inu… to diversify our portfolio.”

Security was also paramount. “We take the security… very seriously,” she stated, outlining their use of multi-signature wallets, two-factor authentication, and future plans for blockchain explorers and smart contracts.

Orod acknowledged the varied customer reactions: “Most of the educated people are interested in paying with Shib,” he said, adding, “the traditional people resist, but when customers see that they get a discount, they try their best to buy Shiba and pay with Shiba.” Mrs. Rosa echoed this sentiment: “Our long-term customers… are very welcoming… Of course, younger generations are more embracing… but even older ones are welcoming this new financial model.”

Currently, about 10% of sales are made with Shiba Inu and Bone, incentivized by a 15% discount. Orod sees this as a stepping stone, envisioning Shiba Inu as integral to his global expansion plans. Mrs. Rosa expressed optimism about Shibarium: “Hopefully yes! We can of course use Shibarium… and take advantage of faster transactions, lower fees, and better scalability.”

Orod’s ambition stretched beyond Iran’s borders. With Orod Jeans expanding into international markets – the UAE, Turkey, Iraq, Azerbaijan, and beyond – he envisioned Shiba Inu playing a crucial role in facilitating global transactions. He spoke of potential partnerships with the Shiba Inu brand and dreamed of showcasing his jeans on the world stage.

More than just a clothing business, Orod Jeans embodies the spirit of innovation and adaptation. Orod and Mrs. Rosa, by embracing Shiba Inu and BONE, are not simply accepting a new form of payment but weaving a new chapter in their family’s story, one where decentralized finance empowers businesses and individuals, transcending borders and traditional financial systems.

This story is a testament to the growing power of cryptocurrency, specifically of Shiba Inu, not just as a speculative investment, not just a meme coin, but as a practical tool for navigating the complexities of a globalized world.

ShibaCon, a vision of Shiba Inu creator Ryoshi, is set to make history in Thailand. Join the movement and be part of this landmark event. Tickets are available now at shibacon.shib.io.
