Crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, known as “BitBoy,” was arrested in Florida shortly after disclosing on social media that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
Records from the Volusia County Division of Corrections in Florida indicate that Armstrong was taken into custody on March 25 at 7:18 p.m. local time and listed as a fugitive from justice.
In the days before his arrest, Armstrong stated in a March 21 post on X that the warrants were issued because he had sent emails to Cobb County, Georgia Superior Court Judge Kimberly Childs while representing himself in legal proceedings. Armstrong also suggested that public officials were “hiding corruption one day at a time,” hinting at his frustrations with the legal process.
The crypto influencer additionally alleged that Judge Childs removed her social media accounts as a result of receiving his emails.
In a separate X post, Armstrong claimed that the court was seeking his arrest to suppress allegations of corruption. He further questioned why the judge would delete her social media accounts if there was nothing to hide.
In February, Armstrong was reported missing for several hours after accusing media company Hit Network of “destroying his life” over the past 18 months. He further claimed that Hit Network CEO TJ Shedd had “willfully” targeted him.
In August 2023, Armstrong was removed from BitBoy Crypto, the brand he founded, by its parent company, BJ Investment Holdings. The company cited concerns over his personal behavior, including allegations of substance abuse, which they claimed had negatively impacted employees and the broader community.
The following month, Armstrong was arrested during a livestream outside the home of a former business associate, whom he accused of withholding his Lamborghini and threatening him.
Armstrong’s arrest marks the latest chapter in his ongoing legal and professional troubles, emphasizing his contentious battles with former business associates and the legal system.
As his case unfolds, it remains to be seen how these legal challenges will impact his standing in the cryptocurrency community and whether he will be able to regain his influence in the space.
