Following U.S. President Trump’s controversial remarks about Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi dismissed reports that Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social, is banned in Ukraine.
Numerous social media users claimed that they were unable to access Truth Social, encountering a message that read “currently unavailable in your area.” Many speculated that President Zelensky’s government had banned the platform.
Tykhyi promptly clarified that reports of Truth Social being blocked in Ukraine were false, stating that the Ukrainian government could not block access to the platform as it had never been made available to users in the country.
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, public records indicate that Truth Social is accessible only in select countries, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Australia, with Ukraine notably absent from this list.
“We would appreciate it if the Truth Social would add Ukraine to their authorized region of operations,” Tykhyi wrote in a post on X.
In addition to these false claims, some expressed support for President Trump’s assertion that President Zelensky is a “dictator.”
These sentiments from social media users emerged one day after President Trump labeled the Ukrainian President a “modestly successful comedian” and a “Dictator” on his social media platform.

“A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left,” President Trump wrote.
After US-Russia talks in Saudi Arabia, from which Kyiv was excluded, President Zelensky remarked that the US president was “living in a disinformation space” governed by Moscow. In response, President Trump’s attacks followed.
“I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it continues,” President Trump further stated.
President Trump’s recent criticism of President Zelensky has deepened the rift between the two leaders, further straining diplomatic ties.
Elected by Ukrainian voters in 2019, President Zelensky secured a legitimate mandate. Although Ukraine was set to hold elections in 2024, the declaration of martial law following Russia’s full-scale invasion has resulted in a postponement of the electoral process.
