Shytoshi Kusama, the visionary of the Shiba Inu cryptocurrency project, draws a parallel between U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Freedom Cities” plan and their recently unveiled “Strategic Hub for Innovation in Blockchain (S.H.I.B.)” proposal.
Trump’s vision, highlighted in an X post by @MJTruthUltra, outlines a plan for ten new technologically advanced cities built on federally owned land. These “Freedom Cities” would emphasize futuristic technology, including flying cars, alongside the revitalization of underserved communities through new industries.
Trump’s plan also addresses cost of living challenges, promotes single-family home construction, and suggests baby bonuses to stimulate population growth. Aesthetic enhancements, such as removing dilapidated buildings and revitalizing public spaces, also feature prominently.
Kusama, recognizing the synergy between Trump’s vision and their own, retweeted the post, emphasizing the timeliness of the S.H.I.B. proposal. This initiative envisions a U.S.-based center for blockchain innovation, a “Silicon Valley for crypto,” designed to drive technological progress and economic expansion.
Well, would you look at that. Guess my S.H.I.B. proposal was ahead of its time… BY LESS THAN A WEEK. ICYMI https://t.co/pjUBcjgZJ3

In subsequent tweets, Kusama elaborated on the S.H.I.B. proposal, suggesting its unveiling just before the election was providential, considering Trump’s subsequent announcement. They now plan to formally present the S.H.I.B. initiative to the new administration, underscoring its potential benefits not only for Shiba Inu but for the entire blockchain sector and the U.S. economy.
Kusama contended that the S.H.I.B. would position the United States as a global leader in blockchain technology, enabling it to catch up with international advancements in the field. They also called on the “ShibArmy,” the dedicated Shiba Inu community, to champion the proposal and highlight its potential worldwide advantages.
Intriguingly, Kusama revealed in an exclusive interview with The Shib, that the initial S.H.I.B. proposal, shared during election week, was conceived as a meme. “I created the proposal as a meme,” Kusama explained, “because, although it’s a great venture that would benefit the U.S.A., I highly doubted anyone would answer. But most importantly, as the project can be anywhere in the world, no one can say The U.S.A. didn’t have a first right of refusal.”
However, Kusama acknowledged the challenges inherent in realizing such an ambitious vision. In a recent interview, they admitted, “Each has its place. America’s history screams for decentralization but so far is being mostly ignored. There are many reasons for this, but I digress.”
While the convergence of these two visions is noteworthy, it’s important to distinguish between Trump’s broader “Freedom Cities” concept, which encompasses various aspects of urban development, and Kusama’s specifically blockchain-focused S.H.I.B. proposal.
Whether and how these two initiatives might intersect remains to be seen. The feasibility and ultimate implementation of both plans are subject to numerous factors, including political support, funding, and regulatory hurdles.
