The Shiba Inu Ecosystem: SHIB, LEASH, and BONE Explained

The Shiba Inu cryptocurrency, launched as a meme coin, has since evolved into a more dynamic ecosystem. This ecosystem currently has three tokens: Shiba Inu (SHIB), DogeKiller (LEASH), and Bone Shbaswap (BONE).

Each token plays a distinct role within the system, offering different utilities to investors and participants. This article will break down these tokens, their roles, and how they differ.

SHIB: The Foundation Token

Shiba Inu (SHIB) is the first token launched in August 2020. Initially created as a meme coin to rival Dogecoin, SHIB has grown far beyond its novelty origins. As an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain, SHIB is used for various purposes, including trading, staking on ShibaSwap (the ecosystem’s decentralized exchange), and even as a payment method for some merchants. SHIB has a circulating supply of 589.26T coins and a max supply of 999.98T SHIB.

The Shiba Inu ecosystem employs token burn mechanisms, which help reduce the circulating supply and create scarcity, potentially increasing the token’s value over time. SHIB holders can also “bury” their tokens (stake them) to earn rewards, such as BONE tokens.

SHIB has been accepted by various businesses and charitable organizations, allowing users to spend or donate their tokens for various purposes.

LEASH: A Key Token in Shiba Nation-State

While SHIB is abundant, LEASH represents the other end of the spectrum. The token has a fixed supply of just 107,646 tokens. This makes LEASH one of the more scarce assets in the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

The Leash token is integral to the Environmental Council of Shib State, especially the Protection & Policy sector. This sector is essential in upholding the community’s integrity by protecting its fundamental principles. It follows a rigorous oversight process to prevent the misuse of power, whether from within or by external authorities.

At the heart of drafting and enforcing policies that align with the community’s core beliefs, as outlined in “The Canine Code,” this sector is crucial. This code sets the moral standards for the Shib ecosystem. The primary responsibilities of the branch include ensuring the defense of community members’ rights and the safeguarding of their values, Implementing an extensive checks and balances system to limit any potential power misuses within the governance structure, and taking charge of creating and implementing policies that adhere to the principles of “The Canine Code.”

One of LEASH’s key functions is granting holders exclusive access to participate in upcoming projects within the Shiba Inu ecosystem, including land claims in the anticipated metaverse. For instance, locking LEASH tokens can reward holders with land plots in the virtual space.

BONE: The Governance and Gas Fee Token

The third key token is BONE, which functions as both a governance token of ShibaSwap and a gas fee token of Shibarium. With a total supply of 250 million tokens, BONE is used by the community to vote on important proposals through the Doggy DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization). This gives holders a say in the future direction of the Shiba Inu project.

In addition to its governance role, BONE serves as the native gas token for Shibarium. This Layer 2 platform is designed to lower transaction costs and increase scalability on the Ethereum network, further integrating BONE into the broader ecosystem. BONE can also be earned through staking and liquidity mining on ShibaSwap. Bone also powers all activities in the Shibarium network.

BONE is required to process transactions within Shibarium, meaning anyone interacting with the ecosystem’s applications, such as NFTs or decentralized applications (dApps), will need to use BONE for transaction fees.

The Synergy of SHIB, BONE and LEASH

These three tokens—SHIB, BONE and LEASH—work together to create a cohesive ecosystem that blends community participation, decentralized finance (DeFi), and tokenomics. SHIB provides widespread accessibility and transactional utility, LEASH offers scarcity and exclusivity, and BONE empowers the community through governance and transactional utility on Shibarium.

The Shiba Inu ecosystem’s growing complexity, including projects like ShibaSwap, Shiboshis NFTs, and the Shib Metaverse, all rely on these tokens to function. As Shiba Inu continues to develop, the interplay between SHIB, LEASH, and BONE will be crucial to its success.
