Russian-Linked DDoS Attack Disrupts Multiple French Government Websites Following Pavel durov's Arrest

In a digital act of defiance, a suspected Russian-linked DDoS attack has crippled multiple French government websites, seemingly in retaliation for the recent arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov. The cyber assault, which began shortly after Durov’s detainment, has disrupted critical government services and raised serious concerns about the potential for state-sponsored cyber warfare.

Multiple French government websites, including the Administrative Court of Paris and the French Health Department, were knocked offline on Tuesday in a coordinated denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. Cybersecurity experts suspect the attack may be linked to Russian hacking groups, potentially in response to the recent arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov in France.

According to a report from Entropia Intel, the attack appears to be a retaliation for Durov’s detention by French authorities. Durov was arrested last Saturday for questioning regarding alleged crimes committed by an unidentified individual using the Telegram platform.

The attack disrupted access to several crucial French government websites, including, the Administrative Court of Paris, the French Health Department’s ansm.sante.fr site and the Court of Cassation’s page.

These websites were inaccessible at the time of writing, with users encountering security warnings when attempting to connect. French authorities have not yet commented on the suspected source of the attack. The situation remains under investigation.

The timing and perceived origin of the attack raise concerns about potential state-sponsored cyberwarfare tactics. While the connection between the attack and Durov’s arrest remains unconfirmed, it suggests a possible attempt to disrupt French government operations in response to the Telegram founder’s detainment.

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed deep concern over the arrest of its citizen, Durov, the founder of the popular messaging app Telegram. Durov was detained by French authorities at Paris-Le Bourget Airport.

In a statement released Monday, the UAE MoFA emphasized that it has urgently requested the French government to provide all necessary consular services to Durov. The Ministry underscored its commitment to prioritizing the welfare and interests of UAE citizens, ensuring they receive comprehensive support in any situation.

Durov, a prominent figure in the tech world, has been at the center of various controversies and legal battles in recent years. His arrest in France has sparked international attention and raised questions about the legal proceedings involved.

French President Emmanuel Macron, in a statement released on Monday, asserted that the arrest of Durov was not politically motivated. While reaffirming France’s commitment to freedom of speech, Macron emphasized that the outcome of Durov’s case would be determined solely by the country’s independent judicial system.
