Former President Donald Trump is set to defy expectations and deliver his speech in person at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference, despite the recent horrific shootout in Pennsylvania that claimed the life of an alleged shooter and a supporter.
While many anticipated that Trump would take it slow and become more cautious in his appearances and rallies, he remained committed to meeting his prior engagements. Trump’s camp has yet to officially announce this development.
However, the official X account of the Bitcoin Conference revealed the news, stating, “We are happy to report that Donald Trump is committed to delivering his speech in-person at Bitcoin 2024. We are proud to host him and to share the solidarity of the global Bitcoin community and our universal commitment to free speech and peaceful democracy.”
The post continued, “We know you have questions about security and what to expect at this historic event. We are actively engaged with our security teams and are fully cooperating with all the relevant parties to ensure a safe event. Please be patient with us as we get this information out.”
Although not initially a strong supporter of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, Trump recently made several declarations about his plans for the crypto industry during rallies and in interviews. Just a month ago, he vowed to unleash cryptocurrency from U.S. President Joe Biden’s regulatory constraints, promising to end the Democrat’s “war on crypto” and secure the future of Bitcoin in America, particularly in Florida.
Trump’s declaration aimed to transform the United States into a global leader in the digital currency realm. In a recent speech, Trump criticized the current administration’s regulatory stance, claiming it has stifled innovation and driven crypto enterprises abroad.
“I will end Joe Biden’s war on crypto and ensure that the future of crypto and the future of Bitcoin will be made in America, with a lot of it being done right here in Florida,” Trump proclaimed. His pledge underscored a vision where the U.S. embraces the burgeoning crypto industry, fostering growth and innovation domestically.
The announcement of Trump’s continued participation in the Bitcoin Conference has been met with a mixture of surprise and support from the crypto community. Many view his steadfastness as a testament to his commitment to the industry and to the principles of free speech and democracy.
This move is likely to resonate with his supporters, particularly those who see cryptocurrency as a crucial component of the future economic landscape. Trump’s evolving stance on cryptocurrency marks a significant shift from his earlier skepticism.
Over the past months, he has increasingly positioned himself as a proponent of digital currencies, recognizing their potential to drive economic growth and technological advancement. His presence at the Bitcoin Conference is expected to galvanize further interest and support for his vision of a crypto-friendly America.
On Sunday, Trump released a statement via Truth Social saying that he had initially considered postponing his trip to Wisconsin and the Republican National Convention by two days, in light of yesterday’s incident. However, Trump announced he has decided against altering his plans.
“Based on yesterday’s terrible events, I was going to delay my trip to Wisconsin, and The Republican National Convention, by two days, but have just decided that I cannot allow a “shooter,” or potential assassin, to force change to scheduling, or anything else. Therefore, I will be leaving for Milwaukee, as scheduled, at 3:30 P.M. TODAY. Thank you,” his post read.
